Day 33, 34, 35, 36, 37

My aunts cinnamon rolls

The visitor calendar is filling up. The last several days were spent with my mom, aunt, and cousin. It was a wonderful visit with a lot of laughs, good conversations late into the night, and some new experiences.

I worried that being open about not drinking for a year might make people less inclined to visit. No more late nights of cocktails and food, or having drinks floating around the pool, but it seems to have had the opposite effect. We have three different groups of guests visiting in October and more planned in the following months. We haven’t even scheduled our regular annual visitors. This makes me happy.

SUP at Saguaro

Entertaining sober is a much more rewarding experience than being drunk the whole time. I’m able to chat about life, make jokes that are actually funny, and I’m not constantly looking at the clock wondering when the acceptable time would be for my first cocktail.

Wild horses

With this visit we did some shopping (airport lost their luggage). Took a cruise tour then some SUP at Saguaro Lake where we saw bighorn sheep and the wild horses. Hiked around the hole in the rock at Papago Park. Went up to Sedona and drove through Jerome. Ate tons of yummy food thanks to Iz and my Aunt (cinnamon roll by her). It was fun even if I was wiped out all day yesterday. It made for an early bedtime of 7:30 and I slept soundly until 6:30am. Pure bliss.
